Miers withdraws nomination

So, President Bush appointed White House Counsel Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court vacancy left by Sandra Day O'Connor, but she came under such fire that she withdrew her name from consideration. Now Samuel Alito, who is probably who Bush really wanted to appoint in the first place, is about to try and be confirmed by the Senate. What has me worried about all of this is that Alito has written when he was in the Office of the Solicitor General during his years in the Reagan White House that one of the first things that a conservative court should do is overturn Roe v. Wade! He, of course, has backtracked and said that it is being taken out of context by Democrats who do not want to see the Court go so far to the right. I think that this is a load of bullshit and that Alito is just another pawn in President Bush's game of Political Chess that we as a country are all losing as a result!

What man, in the most powerful position in the world, would wait five days to asses the situation in a place that had just been ravaged by what some meteorological are calling the worst storm in recorded history? There's only one man that comes to mind and his name is.......GEORGE W. BUSH! Only would the "Shrub" be dumb enough to wait before calling on FEMA and the ARC to do anything about this disaster. But hey, it's not his fault there aren't enough National Guard troops in the United States to help with disaster relief. Oh wait, YES IT IS! Kanye West was right on the money when he said that Bush "Hates black people" had the people been rich white folks that had voted for him in the last election then he would have had help on the ground before Katrina even made landfall!

This is Spc. Casey Sheehan. He was killed in Iraq on April 4th, 2004 when his convoy came under fire from RPGs and assorted small arms. Why won't you meet with his mother, Mr. President? Why won't you take time out of your busy schedule to answer the questions that she and so many other mothers have? Why won't you let her have her closure? How can you find the time to go on a 17 mile bike ride with Lance Armstrong that lasted two hours yet you can't find ten minutes to answer a grieving mother's questions! Shame on you Mr. President for lying to this country and to Cindy Sheehan.

So, how about the fact that the Republicans gained more seats in both the House and the Senate, yet they complain about the fact that they have "lost ground"! Are you freakin kidding me you have control of both Houses of Congress and the White House for the first time since 1946 and you complain about losing two or three seats! These seven words have never rang more true in American history. Even dating back to the days of the American Revolution when Loyalists and those who wanted freedom clashed ,the divide was not as deep as it is today. There are those like myself, who feel that President Bush has done nothing but un-unite the seemingly United States of America. Likewise there are those on the far extreme reaches of conservative America that feel that there is nothing wrong with the job that the President is doing. These are the same people that feel that "Moral Values" were the most important factor when electing the next president in this past election.

The candidates that I would most like to see run for the Democratic nomination in 2008 are as follows:

John McCain- I wish that he would finally come to his senses and renounce his Republican background and embrace the Democratic values that we all know he has

Hillary Clinton- Bill is the only man cool enough to be "First Man"

Barack Obama- This newly elected Illinois Senator would be a perfect fit because he is a breath of fresh air for the Dems

We have another four years of fun and games to look forward to! I'm so proud to be an American! It's refreshing to know that we can live in a country where our civil liberties are infringed upon through an unconstitutional law and where we go to war for reasons that aren't all that clear
